The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a process of both educational and spiritual formation for adults seeking to become full members of the Roman Catholic Church. Participating in a communal process, those seeking full participation in the Church, journey with caring guides to a greater understanding of the Church, self and a personal relationship with Christ. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) offers a very good overview of the process on their website.
Members of the RCIA program undergo a process of conversion as they study the Gospel, profess faith in Jesus and the Catholic Church, and receive the sacraments of baptism, confirmation and Holy Eucharist. The process used today was restored by the Second Vatican Council as the normal way adults prepare for baptism, following the ancient practice of the Church.
We are especially grateful to Doreen Kelly and the members of our RCIA Team who work so faithfully in the name of St. Emily Parish, St. Alphonsus Ligouri and St. Thomas Becket Parish, and the Church.
